Apparently I have forgotten about this little blog. Life has been extremely busy, but I have some down time and need to refocus on all that is good in my life.
I am happy that I am in a profession that I love. Work for me is fun. I feel energized by it. I work with people that genuinely want to be there learning. The best part is I learn so much from them too.

Today is a celebration for my entire family - my eldest, Alexander, turns 16. Since he was a newborn I have randomly asked him, "How did I get so lucky to have you?" Today, I still wonder the same question. When he joined our family, I discovered so much about myself. I learned I am patient and calm. I learned that I have so much to give and receive. I can still remember holding him in my arms as I struggled to nurse him the first week and I remember the first time he nursed for 45 minutes nonstop and I was the happiest momma alive to know I was nourishing him while also holding him close to me.
Alexander is my calm. No matter what the situation, I feel calm with him. He is passionate, smart, and he is his own unique person. I love this 16 year old! Happy birthday Alexander.

Days that are very full of activity often bring restless nights for me. My brain seems to be on overdrive and won't allow me to have a restful sleep. I often find these are the times that I need to write. Writing for me is soothing. It lets my thoughts and feelings have a place to settle which in turns brings a simple happiness to me.

I absolutely love spending time with my daughter. Yesterday we went shopping for friend birthday gifts and ended up buying me a new outfit put together by my daughter. She encourages me to live outside my set of personal rules and I love her for that. She has been that way since she was a baby. She is good for me. She makes me laugh and isn't afraid to tell me when I need to change my attitude. Each day is new with her!

Teaching brings me a lot of happiness. It is a profession that I feel I am really good at doing. I work with adults who are learning English but I come from a background in elementary education. My lessons are sometimes more kid-like. The funny thing is, my adult students seem to love these kind of activities. Last week, my morning class had the job of working with a partner to create competitive business cards for two companies of their choice. They spent a lot of time working on this project using the markers and colored pencils they brought from home and they turned out great. Next week we will do some other activities with these cards. On Thursday, my evening class participated in an Easter egg hunt. Inside each egg was an Easter related word along with a piece of candy. They excitedly searched for their eggs. The best part was how they worked together to teach each other the vocabulary they didn't know and then wrote interesting stories about Easter with their words.
