Learning

Apparently I have forgotten about this little blog. Life has been extremely busy, but I have some down time and need to refocus on all that is good in my life.

I am happy that I am in a profession that I love. Work for me is fun. I feel energized by it. I work with people that genuinely want to be there learning. The best part is I learn so much from them too.

What Did You Like About Your Day?

When my kids were little, we didn’t pray before bedtime as I did as a child. It wasn’t our style. Instead, the four of us cuddled up together and I would ask, “What did you like about today?” I often thought the kids would mention something big we had done that day, but that was never the case. Sophia would share something like, “I liked sitting on Daddy’s backseat.” (Backseat meant shoulders to her at that time.) Alexander might say something like, “When you played Lego’s with me.” They might even give more detailed examples, “I liked when you chased me around the house and we laughed really hard.” What I learned from my kids who were very young is that it isn’t the big things in life that bring us pleasure, it is the simple every day events.

I now have two teens. They stay up much later than me and although we still share many hugs throughout the day, we don’t share our favorite parts of the day very often anymore. I am not ready to give it up though. My life has been changed by focusing on the simple things in life. Here on this blog, I hope to share at least one simple thing each day that makes me "naturally happy being me".
